The countryside around Las Negras is breathtaking and one of the best ways to appreciate the diversity and beauty of the natural scenery here is by foot. You can start exploring the area around the village using the many designated footpaths, which are in good condition and marked with spots of white paint on trees, rocks and posts.
A short detour to one of the sights or peacefully walking along the beach one usually ends up at the Manteka Bar for some small fresh fish dishes. Las Negras has many walking tours to offer.
Take the route to the south along the cliffs and the lagoons and you will end up at the magnificently restored Castillo van Los Ecullous.
Walking in the shadow of Punta Negra you can reach San Perro, an old abandoned village and pirates' lair. This cove is only accessible by foot (about an hour's walk) or by regular boat trips in high season. A few nature lovers have decided to make their home here with the white sandy beach and crystal clear waters. San Perro also has a fresh-water fountain and a castle dating back to the thirteenth century with a tower that overlooks the bay. Taking the boat back in the afternoon sun will make it an unforgettable day.
Another suggestion is to visit one of the very small villages hidden among the mountains and go walking for the day. Each village has its own special attractions. Rodalquilar for example has its gold mines, and Fernan Perez its animal reserve, while La Isleta, its restaurants overlooking the sea, with delicious dishes prepared with fish caught by the local fishermen.
Acres and acres of open ground. A biker's paradise.
Mountain biking and cycling are viewed as both serious sports and a relaxing pastime in Andalusia. It is not unusual to be overtaken by a group of lycra-clad cyclists tackling the steep mountain roads, especially at weekends.
Everyone who has visited this area always returned. It is a lovely place with a lot of charm and authenticity, which can be hard to find in Spain these days. We invite all of you who enjoy nature to stay in Las Negras. You that you will not be disappointed!
