There is a different Spain waiting for you in Las Negras if you too associate beaches and Spain with mass tourism and mass commerce. Even during the busiest month, the coast around Las Negras is an oasis of space, peace and tranquillity. The coast is composed of jagged cliffs, small hidden coves, and lagoons with sandy beaches. The pure waters are ideal for swimming, snorkelling, and underwater photography. We have a very clean beach with our own natural swimming pool made from the small reef that juts out into the sea. Children and parents can bathe there safely.

During wintertime or low season, the village is a peaceful place with only 300 inhabitants, walkers, joggers and fishermen enjoying the beaches. Sunbathing is possible in the winter months. The climate is good all year around with more hours of sunshine then any other region of Europe. On one of the frequent windless days of blue sky, it is warm enough to sunbathe and you can have the beach all to yourself. There are no private beaches in Spain; you have the right to walk the entire coastline. Recent laws prohibit construction too close to the coast. 'Acceso público a la playa' is a sign you may see. It means 'public access to the beach' probably a right of way over private land leading the beach.

Naturist Beach & suggestions

There are numerous naturist beaches in Andalusia. Local municipal councils have officially designated many of the beaches located outside the populated areas for naturists.

Costa de Almeria

• Playa de Cerrillos, Roquetas de Mar Open beach backed by agricultural land to the west of the popular resort.
• Playa de Enix
• Cabo de Gata
• El Borronal, San José de Matibrán
• Playa de los Muertos, La Mesa Roldán, Carboneras Expansive and impressive isolated beach. Park the car in the car park by the information point and descend the long path down to the beach.
• Playa del Sombrerico o Mecenas, Mojácar
• El Playazo, Vera The focus of Naturism in Andalusia. Follow the coast road north from Garrucha. A long beach backed by a number of complexes, some under development.
• Playa de la Carolina, San Juan de Terreros

Since a vacation is more then a nice accommodation in a lovely place, we have come up with a few possibilities that will make your stay even more special.

When in Las Negras we can offer the following three activities.

• you can relax and fish on board an original Spanish fishing boat, enjoy small unspoiled beaches or even go to a small, uninhabited island.
• For diving and snorkel vacation, you are at the right place. With the highest percentage of oxygen in the see around Cabo de Gata, the water is very clear and the wonderful underwater world will be waiting for you.
• What about discovering the nature around Las Negras riding on a horse? You can enter and discover areas where no car can go

Usually we enjoy nature on the beach by walking or by driving a car. Discovering the same nature from the water is even more spectacular. If you really want to enjoy the colours, forms, flora, and fauna of this incredible, coast then our boat, Master del Mar, is the solution. Due to the volcanic mix on this coast, the reefs and Lagoons have fantastic forms and are covered with reds, yellows, and grey colours. Each form in combination with the sun, shadow, and the reflections from the clear water triggers the imagination. Slowly motoring along the coast is like seeing a film of colour and shapes. Looking at the shoreline from the sea you will see how nature takes its own course. The winter winds carry the fine Sahara desert sand over the sea and glides with the seawater along the rocks forming incredible forms. Even if you do not snorkel. The water is so clear that you will enjoy the world under you.

Also, with our boat, Master del Mar, you can get to La Isleta, enjoy the beach and the great fish restaurant and then motor back home. If there is time left, choose one of the small beaches that are only reachable by boat and enjoy the afternoon sun. Privacy guaranteed!

The boat is very seaworthy, and equipped with life vests and emergency lamps. Naturally we will explain to you before hand the rules and regulations. Master del mar also has a powerful motor and some experience with boats is essential. With the mobile phone, we are reachable at all times.

Master de Mar is the only boat for rent in Las Negras. It is therefore very important that if you wish to rent it you contact us well in advance. For practical reasons, the boat is for rent for a minimum of 7 days.

Scuba diving in Gabo de Gata

Due to the high percentage of oxygen in the sea water Cabo de Gata is an ideal spot for scuba diving. The whole area is known for the numerous little lagoons, deserted beaches, and creeks, and is ideal for beginners as well as experienced divers. All the equipment that you might need can be rented per day at the scuba diving centre. Both Rodalquilar (7 km from Las Negras) and San Jose have a PADI centres.

Several different courses are given for both beginners and divers that are more experienced. You can also fill your oxygen bottles at the centres.

Become a cowboy in Gabo de Gata

Exploring Cabo de Gata with a horse is not done along paved roads or walking trails. With a horse, you can discover wild and untouched nature around you. The horses that belong to Sylvia in Las Negras know the area and will take you through the most fantastic sceneries. Even though Las Negras is an eldorado for walkers.

With a horse, you can enjoy the area even more, and explore fantastic natural areas where not even the most experienced walker can reach. The area is very rough but with a horse, you will be able to climb higher and deeper along the coast.

The horses that we have in Las Negras are purebred, well trained and are used to walking and showing this area.

You can rent the horses by the day or week. Each day they will be ready for you at the appointed time. The stables are at Punta Negra about 10 min walk fro the village centre or can be reached by car.
